Semerah darah, sebening air mata

In case you're wondering about this entry's title, it's a song from prajab

Yes, we did sing a lot during prajab, except that it's neither pop or j-pop,but national anthems and some prajab song XD it's amazing how you still remember them after years :p

We had a tight schedule: Morning exercise/report on 5.15, classes from 8 AM to 5 PM or 8 PM, night report, and sleeping. In general, that's how I was doing this last two weeks. I met people from different units, and somehow I had this impression that compared to my last training, my classmates seem more assertive :p Oh, and the exams. GOD KNOWS WHAT KIND OF EXAM THAT WAS. Kemproh! >.<

Okay, enough with that. I'm moving in to my new hostel, torn between two choices to go out or laze around in my room, but end up mobile-updating my journal instead *doh* Hmm I wonder what lies ahead of me. New office, new environment, new people. I wish I were better in dealing with those. Anyway, wish me luck and love! :D Luck and love for you all, my friends :D

Meanwhile, let's sing along:
'Semerah darah, sebening air mata; itu semboyan kita...'

Tempted by ad banner "25% - 90% discount" at Gramedia Delta, last Friday I went there with [info]ami_fitria. Unfortunately, the very thing I want was not on discount :( so I decided to take a walk around the discount area and guess what... I ended up with three books instead!

*looks at the pile of unread books in my room*
*looks at the new books*
*looks back at the pile of unread books*

WHATEVER~!

So, so, the three newcomers are:
- Totto-chan --> I've read it before but it was my senior's. Nyeheh so glad that I could complete my collection.
- The Winner Stands Alone --> Another Paulo Coelho :D I wonder if the old man can still fascinate me through his simplicity?
- The Book of Lost Things --> I've been considering to buy this, but keep postponing until then :p Now that I'm reading the book, I say it reminds me of Kaori Yuki's Ludwig Kakumei due to the spinoff of the classic tales. But oh, my friends said that the tales were originally gloomy/sadistic from the beginning anyway :p

You know, I really need to get my reading mood back. I don't know if this is the result of reading too much manga scanlations :p but feel that I'm loosing "patience" in reading (long length) novel, unlike what I was before. Worse, I fell asleep while reading XD~ Well, the subject/content of the book is also a factor. XD~ My my.. XD~

Oh, and another thing, I've just found out that the latest series of Glass Mask has been released! Nyaaah.. Bidadari Merah volume 10! No wonder [info]huntersandkings suddenly got so excited about Glass Mask on plurk last week :D True, I'm rather worried that things would be even more soap opera-ish judging how things go in volume 9, but hell... I guess we all (the readers AND the manga-ka) are really anticipating the ending XD~

...Jakarta.

Early last week, the placement decision was out. Some stay (in their native city), some leave. Some leave to return (to their hometown), some leave to other city/island. Two of my fellow internees and I - that makes three of us - got Jakarta. On the good side, I felt somewhat relieved because I'm not located in God-knows-middle-of-nowhere and because I've already been to Jakarta before. At least I know the general condition there. *welcome, traffic jams* On the down side, that means I have to look for another boarding room. And it seems that less than a year is enough to revert me back to this "home-sweet-home girl" :p Apparently, I'll be moving there soon after prajab this November :D See you there soon, my Jakartan friends! :D

O Allah, I pray to you, wherever and whenever I will be, please protect me from any harm. Hope I will make it alright there and meet quite as nice or even nicer people like I've met before. Amen.

Surprise, surprise

It’s a week of surprises.

Some are happy surprises, like the wedding news of my office colleagues, both will be held next week. Well, the first wedding isn’t that surprising, considering how the two lovebirds doing at the office :D However, the other wedding is. The groom is my colleague, and he’s like being single for while when suddenly he took a leave to his hometown early this October and it was his friend who "announced" the marriage to the whole office. Tehee, anyway happy wedding to you all, hope you’ll get happy family of your own :D

The not-so-happy surprises is, just this Friday the head office issues another annoucement. See, because of certain things, the internees who have IT background are assigned to Directoire of IT and Communication to do this and that, which I suppose involving some audit and blueprint stuff starting NEXT MONDAY. I’m not in the list, but one of my internee friends is. See, the assignment letter said it will only be a week, but the fact is, in the mailing list we were informed *though not officially* that the assignment will take approximately 6 months. SIRS, PLEASE, HOW DO YOU EXPECT TO ASSIGN SOMEONE FOR 6 MONTHS BUT INFORM THEM ONE WORKDAY BEFORE? And not to forget that the prajab will still be going. So, do they expect the internees to head to Jakarta now, then head to their respectable prajab places when the prajab times call, for then head back to Jakarta to finish the 6 months assignment? Okay, we get reimburse but I don’t expect much considering our reimburse for prajab alone is to be paid at uncertain time in the future.

Honestly I’m both saddened and uneasy with this news. I'm saddened that I’m gonna miss (hopefully temporal) one of my fellow internee in such a sudden time. She’s a nice, smart girl who apparently understand my sarcasm :p So far we haven’t had time to take a picture together as fellow internees, since currently some of my fellow internees are undergoing prajab. On the other hand, I feel uneasy because thinking of my own placement. Considering my rank in last training isn’t very good *it’s not bad, but it’s only average so I don’t consider it enough to save me a good place* I wonder WHERE would I be placed? And when the time comes, will it be so sudden? As if you don’t have time to say goodbye properly. Hah.

Eid Mubarak!

Before saying anything, I'd like thank my fellow internees at Jakarta, who have wholeheartedly helping in archiving documents in regards of our pending salaries. Good job, mates! n(__)n
*and guess now I know what does it mean by "obsessive record keeping"*

OK. After listening to quite a hopeful news regarding our salary last week, today I (and my friends as well) have sadly received the latest news that OUR BACK-PAY SALARIES WILL NOT BE OUT THIS MONTH like what they said it would be if the archiving could be finished this week.

They said it can't be helped, because apparently the external institution who should be taking care of all-the-salary-thingie is also taking care of all-the-budget-realization-thingie, and suddenly has been overloaded by those budget-thingie requests.

*takes a deep breath*
*inhale*
*exhale*

Maybe this year's Iedul Fitri is time to be thrifty :P Anyway, my dear friend *especially fellow Genki Dome* my apology beforehand if I could not give you a treat. I know it's once-in-a-year moment to gather, but what else to say?

Other than that, my concern lies in diklat prajab starting the end of this month, soon after Iedul Fitri. Reading the schedule, it's going to be divided to four phases, and we still don't know who gets which phase. Sure, I'm worried about the life cost. There are rumors about accommodation, but hey, everyday is rumor here ~___~;; Well, at least we have received our base allowance starting this month. Hope it will cover the expenses.

Sebenernya ini entri gak penting sih. Hihihi.. habis udah lama banget gak ngisi LJ :D

Jadi, kemaren malem, karena satu-dua hal akhirnya saya "terjebak" di mobil bersama kakak saya sekeluarga. Which means, termasuk juga tiga orang ponakan. Nah, dua diantaranya lagi adu mulut di mobil, dan inilah cuplikannya (gak persis banget tapi menter2 lah):

Kakak: dasar Adek gendut!
Adek: dasar kurus!
Kakak: Adek gendut kayak bola!
Adek: Kakak kurus, isinya tulang semua!
(..... dan adu mulut berlanjut....)
Kakak: Dasar telor rebus!
Adek: Kakak kayak bandeng!
Kakak: Adek yang kayak Bandeng! Bandeng krispy!

... HOH? kok jadi nyasar nama2 makanan???? Dan sebagai Tante, saya hanya bisa mengelus dada...

Exactly how often we heard someone name his/her child "Budi" nowadays? I'm talking about baby names in late 90's and the 2000's. In Indonesia, "Budi" has been a common name - rather too common, indeed. *read: pasaran* If you ever try opening a phone book, you may find pages of name "Budi". Nowadays, I take it that people still use "Budi" as middle name, or even alias, but seldom as first name.

I was doing random browsing on wiki and - to my surprise - I found an article about "budaya"(culture). "Budaya" is plural form of "Budi". And in Serat Centhini, "Budi" is defined as:

"Wujud tanpa kahanan puniki.Ing dalem kak sajati lantaran. Inggih budi lantarané. Sarupa wujud ing hu. Pan jumeneng Muhammad latip. Mustakik ing Hyang Suksma. Kenyatanipun. Budi wujud ing Hyang Suksma. Inggih budi inggih Hyang kang Mahasuci. Budi tatabonira[1]"

OK, I know, even I don't understand the Javanese. English translation:

"This being without existence is between the true reality. It has a mediation which is called Budi. Budi is similar to God's being. Budi is also called the spiritual Muhammad. It is a manifestation of the Spirit. Budi is the being of the Spirit and it is the All-Pure. Budi is its peaceful place."

I may sound cheesy but still, I never knew the meaning is that deep. Anyway, maybe now the name "Budi" doesn't sound too bad ne?

I thought I would end today quite smoothly... that was, until 3 PM. I was doing some data entries while reading fanfictions (it may sound like self defense, but you DO need some distractions after seeing those numbers all day), when I realized that there was someone standing behind me. Since my desk is near the public printer, it's not strange having people passing by my desk. But that time I felt strange because the person wouldn't move away, instead the person was like watching me. At first I thought it was the Department Head, then I turned my head and saw... THE OFFICE HEAD.

OH. EM. GEE. IT COULDN'T BE ANY BETTER.

Let's hope that he doesn't notice nor understand the word "kink" and "meme" - and better yet, "Phoenix Wright".

Thanks to that and the sudden SOP tutorial - which I thought was cancelled. But there waas changes in plan, I see - I left office a little late. What a coincidence that Ami SMSed me and ask me to go out that evening. Well, since I was already late to catch up with Mugrib time at home, I decided to go out with Ami and do the prayer at nearest mosque/mushalla. Nyeheh. Been a while since we went out. Right now I'm so sleepy, so I guess I'll end it for today.

As I mentioned in my previous entry about OJT, last week I went to Blitar for five days. Okay, let's see.. Blitar.. Blitar... what do we have here:

rant rant rant )

Now here I am, at Surabaya. Tomorrow (to be exact, few hours from now) is election day. I'm hardly the one who cares so much about politics, but this time I'm completely BLANK. Count buttons, maybe? *but hey, the candidates and the parties waaay exceeds the buttons*

As a part of the training, next week we are going through on job training (OJT). From the look of it, it's generally similar with internship. At first I thought for OJT we would be sent back to our previous internship unit, means: i'm going home. But NO. My OJT is at Blitar, a city about two hours from Malang.

See, Mr. Training Committee, I really don't mind the OJT but please consider that WE HAVE NOT RECEIVED ANY CENT OF OUR SALARY/WAITING FEE FOR THREE MONTHS before actually sending us out to another town for a whole week, which means we have to look for a hostel (again) because the OJT unit doesn't seem to provide that much. Well, I appreciate that you would manage our lunch and give us some allowance money *Tolong jangan bilang uang tunjangan OJT-nya dirapel*, and I'm definitely looking forward for you to keep your words.

Hey theeeere! ^^

Fwah, it's been a week since I went to training and let's say I have good news and bad news.

Good news:
- The food. Well, the department only provides lunch (means: breakfasts and dinners are on us), but they also add two coffee breaks in between. and the meals are so *%$@%$%$#@&%* that you feel bad not to eating them all. And guess where that leads if I'm not careful: my waist size. Nyahnyahnyah... now I get it why people at my precious internship office said that "training is time to get fat(ter)" XDD~
- I luv the air in Malang. Naturally, it's cold there. So I don't need any electric fan or air confitioner ^^
- Compared to jakarta, it's closer to Surabaya so it's easier for me to go home in weekends like this. However, I'm not planning to go home every weekend, considering my financial condition T____T and other stuff *of which I will write in "bad news" section*

Bad, bad news:
- OMG I know close to NOTHING about taxation and/or acconting terms!
- OMG the first evaluation is in a week!
- OMG why do I still here updating my journal instead?????

I should have spent my time studying the last bit before training, but instead I stumble upon this "French Monarch family tree" on wiki ^^;; Reading the dizzying family tree, somehow I imagine this conversation between Father-King and Mother-Queen:

Father-King: "Honey, don't you think it's about time for our children to get married?"
Mother-Queen: "Ah, you're right, Dear. Hmm.. how about marrying our eldest son to my brother's daughter?"
Father-King: "By your brother do you mean my brother in law? He's married to my sister, anyway. Well, yes, that'd be perfect. That reminds me. Then what do you think about our daughter with your brother's son?"
Mother-Queen: "I don't think so, Dear. Our daughter is too old for him."
Father-King: "Oh, I know. I think our daughter must be suited for My uncle's son."
Mother-Queen: "What??"
Father-King: "No, I mean my uncle's other son. You know, the one with his third wife. He's about the same age as our daughter."
Mother-Queen: "Your uncle's third wife as in my second cousin?"

That's simply scary LOL

D-3 to training

Today is the last day of internship. Next monday will be the start of the training. Uwaaaah, so many things to learn! There will be pre-tests and post-tests and maybe assignments (hope not!). The training is for 2 months, so I will be at Malang until April. There isn't any official announcement for schedule, and much less bother me. Some says the training schedule is Monday-Satuday. Well, I hope it isn't, since it means I have less chance to go home as often as possible :P *Wahai uang saku, cepatlah turun. Lebih bagus lagi kalo SK-nya turun sekalian*

In relation to that, it means less time for internet. I have no internet connection there, and I haven't spotted internet cafe or some sort yet. Therefore, I apologize for the future lack of comments on my friends' entries - which apparently will be even lesser for the upcoming two months - and updates on this LJ beforehand.

Okay, so now.... ganbatte for me!
See you! ^^

Pansy

Death Note - chained
(Especially) My fellow Indonesian manga readers, do you remember Pansy?

Generally, it's your typical Cinderella story - A monkey girl who was discovered by an animal researcher. Gotten herself educated, she learned that she was actually the heir of a noble family. With the help of her friends - especially this mysterious boy who lost his mysterious air after volume 2 - she overcame the obstacle, finally be with her prince and lived happily ever after.

Although I'm sure the current me will not put this series on my top list, but childhood memory beats everything so I pick it anyway XD~ Now that I've started to read the series again, I can't stop giggling because of the Loli-con-ness! XD~ Please, Pansy was only 10 years old! Well, the fact that Pansy acted a little too grown-up for her age doesn't bother me so much comparing to the fact that the boys are competing for her. *Well, not always, but there are.* Edo/Eduardo - the male lead character - was only seventeen. If there's any rival, it's Anam - also seventeen, Rivace - possibly around 19-21 years old, and Leon - twelve years old. *The latter two were introduced in second and third arc of the story* And to think that I really liked it back then LOL

Other than that, it's not bad. You might be a little distrubed with setting changes, since there are three arcs in the series, each of which complement the other to uncover the mystery regarding the truth of Pansy's birth. The first one is the longest, with its twists and turns that almost worried me that it'd become a robin hood/zoro-ish type of story. And the political intrigues are too shallow. It is truly a manga for viewing pleasure. If you'd like a light entertainment, this should suit you.

Concerning the scanlation itself, I'm really, really, curious as from where they got the raws. Somehow the print is quite familiar for me. Moreover, it's read from left to right. Pansy was released in Indonesia in the 90's, back then all manga are printed to be read from left to right. And if I remember correctly, the translation is somehow in line with the Indonesian version. You know, there are phrases that are somehow a little awkward in its English translations, and I recognize it actually is pretty much making sense in Bahasa Indonesia. Not that I mind, but if it's true I just find it to be funny: me, an Indonesian, is reading scanlation that is translated to English from my own language.

The last thing is the names. The name of the male lead, "Edo", is meant as shortened name from "Eduardo". But in Indonesian version, I noticed in latter volumes, it's not "Eduardo" but "Edoardo". Could it be originally meant to be "Edward"? If it's "Edward", then "Edo" would be "Ed" (and his father's name would be "Richard" and not "Ricardo") *I wonder if the translator was influenced by Latin drama boom during the 90's LOL* That makes sense. And I'm always curious with Pansy's noble name "Poretto". I mean, is it really meant to be "Poretto"? I've never heard such name before. But one thing that I like from the scanlation is that they finally spell "Traumerei" right! Indonesian version has it written as the katakana spelling, "toroimerai". XDD~

Quiz oh quiz

They give us a quiz. Oh, well. It's an e-learning system, so we must do the quiz online with multiple choice problems. Working on that is one thing, but the real problem is the internet connection. Well, Sir, when you are assigning online quiz, next time make sure you've tested it in real environment because darn it keeps displaying this "connection timed out" or such at random times and yet the timer keeps ticking! Great. And make sure that the server won't be overburdened since there's like 1200 people in total - while there's little possibility that all 1200 will access the site at the same time, with the tight deadline (last submission day is on Sunday) at least you can anticipate 30-50 connections at a time. Some may argue that it's due to local internet connection are slow, but I've tested it by accessing some websites other than the e-learning system and it works fine.

Fortunately, I went through that. But some of my friends are experiencing difficulties or even loss while the system is to blame. The grading system has its part in this as well. It's designed that we have maximum two attempts to answer the quiz (but it's okay if you only do it once), and the grade is calculated by average value. My friend is pretty sure she only did it once, but the system somehow count it as twice, so she gets lesser point since it's calculating the average of two attempts.

My, my.

Especially today, I arrived earlier at the office. Due to inauguration ceremony of the new provincial governor, the main road in front of Provincial House of Representatives building was closed. Oh, did I tell you my office is on that road too?

There was no official information, but we had heard that the closing would start at 7. Intending to avoid traffic jam/alteration, I decided to went half an hour earlier than usual so that I'd arrived before 7. But what did I get? My bus was passing Tugu Pahlawan (only one turn away from my office) when I realized the road has already been closed. Man, it wasn't even 6.45! So I went off the buss. I met this ladies who works at the same building (but we didn't know each other, since we work for different office/directoire). Okay, just take this as early morning walk before work. I don't mind the walk, but guess what I saw next?

THEY FRICKING OPENED THE ROAD!

First, they closed the road before 7.
Second, they opened it. (because the alternative route had become too crowded)
Then why did the close it from the beginning? Or they could just delay the closing time, or better CLOSE IT ON TIME, not beforehand.

Well, i just hope the performance of our new government worth all this.
Hear that, Pakdhe?
